How Should We Measure Autistic Adult Well-Being? A Preliminary Study

Research Goal

Researchers at Rutgers University are developing a new measure of well-being for autistic adults across the full range of support needs, including adults with profound autism. Participants will complete a one-time remote interview lasting approximately 60–90 minutes via Zoom. During the interview, caregivers will review draft questionnaire items and provide feedback on their clarity, relevance, and appropriateness for measuring well-being in autistic adults with high support needs. Participants will be compensated for their time and effort.

Eligibility

We are seeking caregivers (e.g., parents, guardians, or other primary caregivers) of autistic adults (18 years and older) with profound autism and/or high support needs. Participants must be familiar with the daily experiences, strengths, support needs, and quality of life of the autistic adult they support. The study is being conducted remotely, and participants must be able to complete an interview in English via Zoom.
